Very funny! We can all learn something from Downton Abbey, here.
Cool, hip people (like me and you!) discover Downton Abbey
It seems the US has caught on, in a big way, to Downton Abbey. Social networks like Twitter are lit up with comments on Sunday nights about the newest episodes, even by celebrities like Patton Oswalt(?!) and Katy Perry. You may have even seen frequent posts on your facebook about them, or the new memes with the characters and quirky quotes. (The Dowager is quite the character and a favorite of these) I haven’t seen so much buzz about a period series since Mad Men’s debut. (New season begins in March! Woohoo!)
I watched the first season of Downton Abbey on Netflix in a day while I was down with a stomach virus, only pausing from time to time to puke in my “puke genie”. From that moment, I was hooked. I gobbled up the second season on PBS, and caught up. Now I can’t wait for Sunday night for the next installment. I’m going to be so sad to have to wait for the next season, which will feature the formidable Shirley Maclaine as Cora’s mother. I can’t wait for the Battle of the Bitches, it should be even more exciting than World War 1 was!
