My name is Laura, and I’m the mom to 2 incredible children, an almost 2 year old girl and a 17 year old boy. Time is at a premium when you also have a full time job, and a significant other that would also like to see you from time to time. A Maryland’s Eastern Shore transplant, I’m now making my home in Western Massachusetts, nearly 400 miles away from my hometown. I work for a social service agency that provides assistance to people to prevent homelessness. As glamorous as it sounds, it’s not so much. I do it also for the money. (Ha! That’s not so much either!)
I am a Certified Financial Social Work Counselor, and a former financial failure. After years of living down my debtor past, I’m finally able to put that behind me and take care of my finances. (Debtor prison would have been faster than waiting for my credit scores to go up!) Now I enjoy looking for ways to save my family money, but like many of you, find myself splurging more than I should. I could have easily called this blog, Out of Money Mom. I’m not kidding, finances are tight! I seem to be running out of both; Time is Money!
The internet is full of moms like you and me looking for ways to save time and money so that you can spend your (often depleted!) energy raising your family. So many blogs and websites have tips to share, but you can’t read them all! Like The Huffington Post did for news, that is what I’d like to do for you. I will post the best of what I find on the web, along with original pieces written by me and my staff. (Out of Time Dad!) I want you to be able to sit down and find the stuff that’s relevant to you and your life right away because you may only have 10-15 minutes to do so. I hope this helps create some *me* time for you. Let me know what you think!
